Lewis University KidzFest Campus -

Lewis University will offer entertaining and educational experiences for children of all ages on the KidzFest 2008 Mini-Campus.

1. Make magic through Chemistry experiments. Fun includes concoctions such as Fizz, Foam and Splatter—experiment with everyday materials!
2. Visit an electronic media van and see how a news program is created. See yourself on television too.
3. Sit in a small airplane (digital web photos optional), courtesy of Lewis Aviation.
4. See a FAA flight simulator (Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004) in action. (for kids 10 and over)
5. Enjoy robots and video games, provided by the Computer Science department.
6. Perform experiments and look through an electronic microscope with Biology faculty and students.
7. Participate in activities such as a health foods bean bag toss (for toddlers), a hand washing demo that shows particles of dirt left after washing (for all ages), simulation of a smoker’s lungs, goggles that simulate what happens when your vision and coordination because of drinking, nutrition information, and more from the College of Nursing and Health Professions.
8. “Bop to the Top” as the Philip Lynch Theatre Singers perform music from Disney’s High School Musical
9. Choose from designs and get a new look at the Face Painting booth.
10. Enjoy stories (for children ages 6-10), read by future teachers.
11. Get tips from student athletes on basketball, softball, baseball and volleyball.

Plus photo IDs for kids, blood pressure testing for children and parents, and much, much more! Children may earn an “aviator wing pin” by completing four activities at the Lewis Kidzfest campus. Be sure to get a certificate for your child as you enter the Lewis mini-campus on Chicago Street at Clinton (across from the Library).

Joliet Public Library - Blasts off into Space!

Blast off for an exciting tour of outer space with PASSPORT TO THE UNIVERSE in the Dome Planetarium Theater at the Joliet Public Library. Starting at 10 am, shows will be offered every hour between 10am until 3pm in the 2nd floor library meeting room. Limited space for each show, so pick up your tickets early! There’ll be free make and take space themed crafts on the street too! Stop by and take a trip into space!!!

Rialto School of the Arts - Theatre Alive!

Stay tuned for live performances under the marquee of the historic Rialto Square Theatre! High School Musical under the Marquis at 11am & 2pm by the Emerald City Theatre Company!

Joliet Park District - Take Time for Fun!

Checkout fun ways to get fit & healthy!!! The Joliet Park District will be showcasing all the great activities you can experience at the JPD facilities throughout the city. Enjoy free inflatable jumpies, a “Monster Mural”, as well as great Joliet Park District give-aways and information on upcoming programs all year long!

Safety First with the Joliet Police and Fire Departments

Get ready for the ultimate “Touch-A-Truck” with real police cruisers, fire trucks, ambulances and more to crawl in and on!!

The Joliet Police Department will have Child Safety Checks available as well as great give aways and demonstrations. The Joliet Police Department has gone extra “high tech” for this year’s event, handing out ID cards that look like real drivers licenses but also have contain finger prints for safe identification. The JPD will also be giving out helmets to the first 100 visitors and demonstrating their remote control police safety vehicle!

The Joliet Fire Department will be putting kids through their paces again with a real fireman style obstacle course, “The Jr. Fireman’s Combat Challenge!” The JFD will also be hosting great give-aways and demonstrations throughout the day!

Down On the Farm - at the Joliet Area Historical Museum

Come for the free petting zoo that includes goats, bunnies, chickens and more! Take a free pony ride too as the farm comes to Downtown Joliet! (hand wash stations provided)

The Joliet Area Historical Museum will also have interactive farm themed games like Rope the Stick Horse, Animal Bingo, and Search in the Sand!

Great Outdoors - Forest Preserve District of Will County

Learn the fun that lays in the great outdoors with free informational demonstrations and activities by the Forest Preserve District of Will County
